Snook++

Things have been crazy busy for the past couple weeks and for good reason. I've mentioned before that my wife and I were in the process of adopting. Last Wednesday, the day we've been working towards for almost two years had finally arrived: to be parents once again.

Lucas Adam James has become the latest addition to the Snook clan and we couldn't be happier. Our deepest gratitude to the birthmom who allowed us to be in the room during the birth, which was absolutely incredible. To be sure, it will be a day I will never forget.

After spending a week in Kansas, we're heading on to Chicago for a few days before our return home to Canada. We're looking forward to getting back home and settle into our new routine.

Anyways, just thought I'd share the good news!

Hi, Jonathan,

Just noticed this on Twitter. For whatever it might mean from a complete and utter stranger, many congratulations. I'll surreptitiously drop the hint of my curiosity at your use of "again" without blatantly sticking my nose in your business, in the off chance that you'll possibly go into more detail.

Congratulations and stuff,

Daniel

Thanks everybody for the well wishes!

@Alexander Radsby: adoption can be a very long, complicated and expensive process. Of course, it's also an extremely rewarding process and has been worth every bit of effort we've put into it.

Re: An Event Apart, although I'm in Chicago at the moment, in all likelihood I'll be leaving on Friday and won't be able to stick around for the conference. Too bad though...I'd certainly like to attend. Or at the very least, hang out at the after party. ;)

Carolyn said on August 22, 2007

Jonathan, I'm really happy for you and your family...and to be there for the birth itself - what a privilege.

Matthew Oiphant said on August 23, 2007

Jon that's awesome! Congrats to your family. What a great opportunity to be there for the birth. :)

(We just got back from Canada so I am a little late responding. :)

Cheryl said on August 23, 2007

hey Jonathan, congratulations, that's such awesome news. Much love to you and the family.

Out of curiosity how does it work with the birth mom? Is she interested in staying in touch with him or does she want to want and see what happens when he's older, etc? I've not heard a lot about adopting in this day and age, more just stories from the 60s when it was very taboo...

Bernie Zimmermann said on August 26, 2007
